Twisted newsletters

Who holds the responsibility for internal communications in your company?

What does it mean to be an employee at your company?

<--Twist feels like this...

Ten years of good economic growth means companies are bigger, have more employees, are spread further afield and have more departments.
As the economy slows it is inevitable that companies look inwards improving what they have rather than expand their way to profit.

Enthusiastic employees working together could be the difference over the next twelve months.

Breakfast networking and Jaguar cars

Can networking help me win new business?

For the next three months I am going to go to as many networking events as possible and by September I guess I'll have my answer.

My first port of call was the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. Is this the domain of the one-man-band or will I find target companies with around £100k in marketing spend?

Event 1. Breakfast Connections at the Botanical Gardens with a presentation from Jaguar's MD.

Suitably impressed so far, well organised and fairly easy to get talking to people with over 100 in the room (breakfast was good too). Initially my heart sank when I found myself talking to a couple of recruitment consultants, but they turned out to be good company and over breakfast we figured that a bit of information sharing could be very advantageous. The trick now is to actually make this work and not let it fizzle out.

The presentation from Jaguar's MD Geoff Cousins was fairly interesting too. As a marketer is was great to hear a company MD spend most of his time talking about branding, going as far as saying the Jaguar brand is bigger than the company and more important that the car.

Unistrut your stuff

You may not have heard of Unistrut, which is no suprise unless you are an electrian or electrical engineer.

However, in their world their main product is so successful that customers don't ask for a cable channel, they ask for Unistruct.

Great news, unless you want to expand your product range.

Unistrut came to us to help sell their full range of products by reminding customers that Unistrut is not just a one trick pony.

The Power of PR

The Challenge
To increase awareness of the newly formed Moneyway brand. To highlight the product offering and brand values that had been established by the re-brand

Our Twist
We created strong Moneyway figureheads by releasing regular comment pieces and profiles into the business media, whilst also working on a B2C basis by increasing awareness of their new brand and local branches to their core target market, using stunts and ‘people-focussed’ stories.

How Good was it?
Amazing results if we do say so ourselves!
ROI of 2000% across a 6 week campaign, increasing number of sales enquiries and leads as well as achieving a high brand recognition score

Communication channels

How many channels are there these days?

Mail, telephone, fax, text message, multimedia message, social networks, Web 2.0, blogs, computer games, online video, online ads, television, films, radio, mobile sales units, in-store teams of brand representatives, salesforce, leaflets, newspapers, free-standing inserts, coupons, e-mail, instant messaging, internet chat rooms, web sites, bulletin boards, online communities and experiential.

Did I miss any?

This explosion of possible consumer contact points means marketers need to engage more people at the planning stage. Brainstorming, once the tool for generating the big creative idea, is now vital to gather experienced marketers to consider and evaluate each channel.

Marketing to women?

Recent research has demonstrated that women now make 85% of all purchasing decisions and are in fact the purchasing manager for most households and increasing numbers of businesses.
Women make the choice on new bank accounts 89% of the time, in DIY 80%, in cars 60% and in the choice of holiday, 92% of decisions are made by women.
Wow! Women shop more than blokes, a truly astonishing revelation. Just wait tell I tell my wife!

Sales Promotions - ideal for a recession?

The state of today's economic climate, with an impending threat of recession and general increases in the cost of living will inevitably affect consumer spending.

History shows us that luxury brands tend to fair well in recession, as do the lower discount brands, but for those in the middle - the recession has teeth.

As a general rule during a recession, most companies cut their advertising spend and the emphasis shifts from brand building to maintaining brand equity. Its no longer about growing your wallet but about keeping your share in the face of cheaper rivals.

The discipline most suited to offering discounted prices whilst maintaining brand equity is sales promotion.

This happened in the 90's and sure enough Twist has already seen an upturn in the number of clients planning sales promotions.

Twist gets Recommended!

The Recommended Agency Register have surveyed clients on their agency's performance and inclusion on their register is not a foregone conclusion. Some big name agencies have failed to make the cut which gives the register real credibility.

Our clients reported that the questionnaire was comprehensive and the resulting description of Twist was remarkably accurate.
That our clients would all independently recommend Twist is fantastic news and a great testament to the quality service.
